DREAMHOUSE HIGH SCHOOL
In Fall 2022, DreamHouse officially launched high school with a 100-student ninth grade.
This is a planned, approved, and meaningful step towards completing the full growth of our charter, at which point we will be a grades 6-12, 700-student, middle and high school.
During the 2023-2024 school year, DreamHouse will be grades 6-10 with 100-students cohorts in each grade (500 students total).
The DreamHouse High School is located in downtown Kapolei on the corner of Kama‘aha and Manawai. The project, in partnership with Avalon Development, will create DREAMHOUSE CENTER, a three-story, $33 million addition to the Kapolei community.
START-UP LOCATION
The DreamHouse High School began as a 100-student 9th grade located in the Kapolei Marketplace. This served as a temporary start-up site while the while the permanent high school was being built down the road. This site was renovated with new paint, brand new furniture, lightening fast WIFI, and an innovative, forward-looking version of high school for our young leaders was brought to life.
ATHLETICS
All DreamHouse high school students can play sports at their home DOE school.
Per Hawaii State Law and Board of Education Policy, “The department shall provide students at charter schools, including students enrolled at charter schools whose curriculum incorporates virtual education, with the same opportunity to participate in athletics as is provided to students at department schools.
If a student at any charter school wishes to participate in a sport for which there is no program at the charter school, the department shall allow that student to participate in a comparable program at the department school in the service area in which the student resides. All charter school students participating in athletics shall abide by all rules, regulations, and policies of the athletic league, association, and program applicable to the department school in whose athletic program the student is participating.”
DreamHouse will seek to organize connections and conversations with coaches from local high schools in order to open up lanes of communication, dialogue, and participation.
Our hope is to offer student leaders an opportunity to earn a DreamHouse education while participating in athletics until our school is built out and we can field multiple teams.
COLLEGE WHILE IN HIGH SCHOOL
DreamHouse high school students will be able to earn college credit.
DreamHouse is committed to ensuring children in grade 9-12 have full access to college courses and credit in order to get a jump start on a post-secondary degree.
More information on Dual Credit is located here and we will be in communication with families with learning, open house, registration, and additional opportunities.
