DreamHouse has found a facility.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

As of Thursday, December 13, 2018, DREAMHOUSE ‘EWA BEACH has a signed, executed lease for a facility.

DREAMHOUSE ‘EWA BEACH will begin its inaugural 6th grade class at Laulani Village Shopping Plaza in open commercial space above Buffalo Wild Wings in ‘Ewa Beach.

Since receiving charter approval from the State of Hawai‘i in July 2017, the founding leadership team and its advisors has been searching for a start-up location for DREAMHOUSE ‘EWA BEACH.  The team worked with numerous real estate brokers, visited dozens of sites, and opened over 40 inquiries into potential site locations.  Over the past 18 months, for one reason or another, each possibility and each location did not work out.  Until this one.

LAULANI VILLAGE (YEAR 1)

The Laulani Village Shopping Plaza is located at the intersection of Fort Weaver and Keaunui Roads in 'Ewa Beach.  The Plaza is home to stores such as Safeway, Ross, City Mill, and American Savings Bank.  There is a Starbucks, multiple dining options, and the site is conveniently located on walking, biking, and bus routes.

The second floor of the building that houses Buffalo Wild Wings will serve as the founding location for DREAMHOUSE ‘EWA BEACH.  The school has two, large office spaces that it is converting into classrooms, meeting, and common space over the next several months.

While the Laulani site is timely and convenient for a start-up location, the space only has the capacity to serve as a short-term, bridge location for our new school.  The space has been made possible due to the generosity and support of Alexander & Baldwin, as well as numerous stores and partners in the Laulani Village Shopping Plaza including, but not limited to Safeway, Ross, City Mill, and American Savings Bank.

The founding 6th grade of 100 children will begin their DREAMHOUSE ‘EWA BEACH journey at Laulani Village.  Following this start-up year, the school will open in its second year, with 6th and 7th grades, just miles down the road in neighboring Kalaeloa.

KALAELOA (YEAR 2+)

Given the growth trajectory of DREAMHOUSE ‘EWA BEACH to add a grade each year and eventually become a 700-student, grades 6-12, middle and high school, it is imperative that a site can accommodate this growth, and a solid partner can build an innovative, 21st century learning environment for our children.

That solid partner is Hunt Development Group, and that site is a parcel of land on FD Roosevelt Road in Kalaeloa just makai of the Wakea Garden apartments.  The site is just four miles down the road from our original launch site, easily accessible by car and bus route; our hope is to also have a shuttle run from ‘Ewa Beach to help with transportation needs.

The 20-acre parcel is home to multiple vacant buildings, as well as open land for expansion and development.  The initial site for the planned middle school is approximately 15,000 square feet, and will undergo extensive renovation and upgrades in the infrastructure, electrical, and functionality of the building.  This will be the growth site of the DREAMHOUSE ‘EWA BEACH middle school, with plans to open in August 2020 for our rising 7th grade, and incoming 6th grade classes.

___________

It has been a long, humbling journey to get to this point.  The founding team of DREAMHOUSE ‘EWA BEACH looks forward to completing the necessary permitting, occupancy, inspections, and additional requirements needed to open this coming August 2019.  Mahalo for your interest and please spread the word!

Sincerely,

The Founding Leadership Team
