A Message from Coach Alex

After 10 years of founding, growing, and leading DreamHouse, the time has come for me to step back from my role as Chief Education Officer in order to focus my energy and life around my family, wife, son, and newborn on the way (Dec 20). My last day will be December 1, 2022. I will be joining the school board to continue supporting a few key, strategic projects over the next several years, and to ensure our founding cohort graduates in May 2026, as planned, and as promised.

I wrote in my dissertation, quoting a professor from Mānoa, “non-native educators need to know when is their time to step up, step back, and step away;” I believe my time has come.

DreamHouse has been the greatest professional love of my life. Never did I imagine in 2012 we would found and lead Hawai‘i’s newest and fastest-growing public charter school to where we are today. From Laulani to Kalaeloa, Kapolei to the DreamHouse Center, the future is bright for our school, non-profit, team, families, and student leaders.

What I did not know in 2012, but what I do know now, is that DreamHouse is in the most capable hands of educators, leaders, and community members that I have been honored to call my colleagues and friends. This is a special moment in time for our school, our story, and our journey. I have never been more proud of or excited for what is to come.

As I step aside, the voices, vision, and leadership of my colleagues, our students, and our community will truly breathe life and energy into the DreamHouse mission. And only by me doing so, can we truly see and realize the potential of what DreamHouse can be.

I won’t be far - please know that I am cheering for the Class of 2026, the DreamHouse Center, and all of you. Always.
